Behind The Craft
The steps behind every Izuka wallet.
STEP 1
Cutting
Every card holder begins as a roll of top-grain leather. An artisan cuts each panel to shape, one piece at a time.
STEP 2
Embossing
Each panel is pressed with one of our original designs using a heated tool. The leather is then set aside to cool, so the impression sets deep and stays crisp.
STEP 3
Skiving
A skiving machine shaves every piece down to one even thickness. That's why the card holder sits flat in your pocket and the layers meet cleanly at the seams.
STEP 4
Attaching Lining
The inside gets the same attention as the outside. Each panel is backed with a mix of canvas and RFID-blocking lining.
STEP 5
Folding Edges
The edges are folded over the lining. This gives it a clean finish when you look inside the card holder.
STEP 6
Hole-Punching
Before the first stitch, the artisan punches evenly spaced holes along every seam. The spacing set here decides how straight and uniform the final stitching looks.
STEP 7
Stitching
The panels are stitched together. This is where separate pieces become a card holder.
STEP 8
Edge Finishing
The raw edges are painted and polished until smooth and sealed. The final step in the process.
